Darrel thought for a moment, and nodded.

"Sure." he replied.

"I'll do that." he told her.

He then looked like he was plotting something, before he let out a defeated sigh.

"Yeah, I'll do it." he repeated quietly.

"Want me to ask about Luke as well?" he asked her, seeming to have a moment of clarity.

"....I hope so, too." Darrel responded.

He was then silent, and thought for a moment.

"Hey." he said.

"Let's get Evan to help us look." he suggested.

"I mean, he's taking this just as hard as I am." he went on.

"And the more people we have scavenging for info, the better, yeah?"

".....yeah." Darrell admitted.

"Still don't like it." he growled.

"But... this is daunting, to say the least." he then added.

"If what we've been hearing is true... this could be the literal end of the world." he went on.

"I just don't... understand why they're here." he said further.

"And how they were defeated beforehand... if they were."

Darrel just growled again.

"Damn it all." he cursed.

He was then silent for a moment... and looked at Kelly.

"Wait..." he muttered.

"If... those like US can't do anything... then who CAN?" he asked her.

"How do we stop what's happening?"

This seemed to reignite Darrel's anger.

"That's what I hate." he said.

"I have portal mana, I have the Hunter's Eye, I have all the skills my parents taught me, all the skills I've honed on my own, and I have the otherworldly strength of a dhampir." he went on.

"But it's meaningless." he spat.

"I'm useless!" he went on.

"I may as well just be nothing more than a dried up jellyfish on the beach!"

Darrel froze when he heard that.

"Ah..." he stammered.

"I... I, uh..." he stuttered further, before sighing.

"Great." he said.

"Now I've made an ass of myself." he growled.

"Go and see him, then." he told her.

"I'll... clean up the mess I made here."

Darrel looked at Kelly sharply.

"Oh yeah?" he asked.

"You know, you seem pretty calm about this." he told her.

"It seems that none of us are safe, you know." he commented.

"Aren't you worried about Luke?" he asked her.

"Maybe HE'LL drop at any moment."

Darrel glared at the one in his way.

"Kelly." he responded.

"I can't even imagine the pain she's going through." he told her, having been told what was going on by Lindsay.

"And... faith?" he asked.

"Faith in her? Sure." he said further.

"But faith in what else? The heavens? HAH!" he laughed.

"The heavens mean JACK SHIT!"

"DAMN IT ALL!" he yelled, as he threw a glass across the room, shattering it into a million pieces.

"AND THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO!" he yelled further, the dark side of his lineage taking over.

He felt himself wanting to just go out and drain everyone he met. Not that it would help Samantha, but it would make him feel better.

He then turned to the nearest wall and smashed it with his hand, cracking the wall slightly, and splitting his knuckles a little.

"....whatever." he snarled, ignoring the pain.

"Screw it! Going to find her." he spat, deciding to go and look for the woman he loved.

"Ah... ah..." Luke stammered, as he stumbled forward slightly.

He almost collapsed to the ground, but stopped, managing to anchor his feet.

He then gritted his teeth, and couldn't keep it in any longer.

He reared his head back, and let out a primal scream of pain and agony, before collapsing forward onto his front.

Luke jumped back from the jelly.

"Woah!" he exclaimed.

"What the HELL!?" he asked.

"No. No, no, no. That is NOT natural!" he commented, before kneeling down close.

"...no, this shouldn't have happened." he said, backing further away.

"What's doing this?" he wondered, as he concentrated on the natural energy around him, to sense for anomalies.

Luke was silent as he felt the ash fall upon him.

"....................." he lifted a hand, and picked the ash up, looking at it.

"What the...?" he mumbled, looking up at the plant.

"The hell was THAT?" he wondered.

"This... this doesn't seem... like a natural wilting..."

All the anger seemed to instantly leave Lindsay at that point, like emotional gears shifting without a clutch.

"Oh lord." he said.

"Evan..." he muttered.

"Alice, I have to go." he told her.

"I need to make sure things don't go to hell." he said.

"We'll talk later." he finished.

With that, he turned and quickly left the office.

Now... things got a bit different.

Lindsay was still angry. She could see how livid he was in his eyes. That hadn't changed.

However, it also seemed like something was at war with the anger. Not to suppress it, but the change who and what it was diverted to.

The ominous aura from him continued to emanate and grow stronger for about 10 seconds, before she noticed it fade, ever so slightly.

And then Lindsay just sighed.

"Meaning, knowing Samantha, she practically volunteered to keep Death's attention, and divert it away from everyone here at the hospital." he said.

"I must admit, I am feeling very... conflicted right now." he told her.

And she knew that was the understatement of the year.
