"I'm coming with." Darrel responded.
"I was going to go to OLA anyway." he told her.
"Nothing big, this is more important, but still." he then muttered.
"Regardless, I'm coming with." he repeated.
"Let's go."

Darrel knew better than to keep Samantha waiting.
Especially when it sounded as urgent as it did.
As such, he quickly wrapped up his tools, shut the door behind him, locked it, and then hastily made his way towards where he'd heard her from.
"....the hell!?" he exclaimed, when he saw what he did.
"What happened to him!?" he asked, getting closer.

Still, she received silence.
The apartment seemed to be empty. Devoid of anything other than the barrier she had stepped through.
Her search didn't take long... she found her brother.
Laying on his back in the living room.
Unconscious and seemingly dead to the world.

Darrel unfurled his tools, looked at the lock, and sighed.
"Yeah, this is gonna be hard." he said.
With that, he set to work. And he worked for close to an hour straight, before they both heard a clicking and a popping sound.
"Got it." he told her.
"Geez, that was nearly impassable." he commented.
"Anyway, go on in and check." he then said to Sammy.
"I need to pack this stuff back up, quickly."

Darrel nodded and accepted her hand, before a portal opened up beneath them, dropping them a short distance, and they landed in an alley beside the building that had her 'get-away' apartment in it.
Once there, Darrel formed a small portal in midair, reached in, and took out a cloth wrap, usually used for artist's tools.
"Right" he said, pocketing the wrap.
"Let's get to work." he told her.

".....ooooh. Hm." Darrel mumbled.
"True." he said.
"That security WILL be tough to crack." he admitted.
"But I'll give it a shot." he told her.
"Oh, and I need to call Alice, let her know something's screwy with Evan, but things seem all right overall."
"True." he said.

"Hm." Darrel muttered.
"Well, there might not be a mana way in." he said.
"But what about a mortal way?" he asked.
"How good is the security on the front door?" he asked her further.
"I might be able to pick the lock."

Darrel just shrugged.
"I dunno any details." he said.
"I was just told to make sure things were all right here." he told her.
"That being said... if Evan's not answering his phone, that's a concern." he then admitted.
"Hmmmm." he mumbled.
"You know where he might be?" he asked her.
"Or is this a case of him being at that place?"

"Huh?" Darrel asked.
"I... was just checking up on you." he told her.
"Seeing if you were okay and all." he said further.
"Vicki and Alice are concerned, said something big happened in this area of the world." he told her.
"What's so important to preoccupy you?" he then asked her.
"Can I help in any way?"

Darrel hung up, and sighed.
"Right." he said.
"Off I go." he muttered.
With that, he used a portal to leave his apartment, and appeared just outside the Fyrane manor.
Once there, he rung the bell.
"Hey! Sammy, you in!?" he called inside.
"Right." he said.

"Ah, right." Darrel responded.
"Sure thing." he told her.
He was then silent, and she heard him sniffing and snuffling a little.
"I might come see you at OLA after." he commented.
"My sniffer's a bit weak right now. Might have a bug or something." he told her.
"But it's nothing... TOO serious right now." he assured her.
"Anyway, I'll call with the info."

"Hm." Vito muttered.
"I can't leave here, either." he told her.
"We've got a high-profile criminal being brought in for his trial." he said.
"Remember? Sal, the Deep-Fryer." he went on.
"I'm supposed to be there as personal security, in case he tries something." he continued.
"...I suppose we'll have to call, see if anything's off."

".....Southern Ontario?" Vito asked.
"As in, where Sammy and them are?" he asked further.
Vicki just nodded in response.
"Hoo boy." he then mumbled.
"Should we go there?" he asked. "If nothing else, to see if everyone's okay?" he asked further.
"Or should we exercise extreme caution?" he then asked her.
"As you said, this is unknown, and obscenely powerful."

She'd gotten to the roof, and was there for only about 10 seconds, before Vito followed.
He emerged behind her, and looked around some.
"Wasn't mana?" he asked her, referring to what she'd told him earlier.
"That... makes little to no sense." he said.
"But I won't interrupt. If you need to scrye, then scrye." he then told her.
"Just let me know if you need anything."
