"Ah... of... of course." the director replied.

"Do whatever you need to." he told her.

"Just please... do something." he said.

"This is complete and utter madness."

After a moment, the door was opened, and a male stood before them.

He looked to be in distress, and having trouble keeping his balance, and was also shocked to see her.

"O-oh! Lady Fyrane!" he exclaimed.

"Please! Please come in!" he said, trying to step out of the way, and almost collapsing in on himself.

"....my apologies." he said to her. "I seem to be having some... immense nerve problems." he told her, letting her know he had started to go numb from this. At least, in his extremities, anyway.

".....very well." the man replied.

"I shall talk to you later." he told her.

With that, he took his leave, and she was alone again.

She had more information, but not much to do with it.

At least she knew what she was dealing with. That was something, at least.

"Well, there WAS another sect that worshipped the polar opposite of Gnyx." he responded.

"If we can find THEIR religious tome, it may offer some answers as to how to counter what's going on." he told her.

"Beyond that, I have nothing." he then said.

"My apologies." he lamented.

"If you like, I can try and find information of this other tome." he then offered.

"....various ways." the man replied.

"Electrocution, stabbing, any way they could inflict pain as long as they could, before the subject couldn't take it any longer, or died." he continued.

"However, that was just physical pain. They also practised torture and agony of the mind." he said.

"Says one of their most effective mental torturing methods was to rob the subject of a sense. Usually, one that was the most precious to them."

He sat down in front of her, and sighed.

"Apparently, that book is like some sort of religious tome for some old-world druids." he told her. "And we both know what I mean when I say 'old world'." he added.

"Regardless, apparently these druids were part of an order. Or... a cult, bu today's standards." he went on.

"And they worshipped a god. A god by the name of Gnyx." he then said. "Apparently this was a god of pain and suffering." he told her further.

"And the book was supposedly one that contained the secrets for... well... appeasing their deity." he said, pausing for a moment, allowing her to interject.

A few seconds later, the door opened, and he stepped inside.

He closed the door behind him, and made his way closer towards her.

"Hello again." he greeted her.

"I've had to do a lot of digging." he told her.

"All I've managed to find is the history surrounding the tome." he went on.

"While I am unsure as to how helpful it will be, I felt it substantial enough to warrant reporting."

After a few seconds of silence, there was a knock on her office door.

"Excuse me, Ms. Fyrane?" the curator of the ancient tomes asked.

"I've been doing some more research on the book you requested me to." he told her.

"And I've found out some new information." he continued.

"Are you busy right now?"

"....indeed." Lindsay replied.

"Magic was something so powerful, it threatened the lives of those that wielded it." he said.

"Eventually, people were forced to seal it away, just so they wouldn't be entirely eradicated." he went on, before she heard him sigh audibly.

"We'd better work as fast as we can." he reasoned.

"The longer any sort of magic has freedom in this world, the worse off we'll be." he said further.

"Any magic can upset the natural balance, and chaos will ensue."
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
"That works." Lindsay told her.

"We'll keep in contact if any new info comes into either of our hands." he said.

"For now, we just need to keep cool heads... if possible." he went on.

"...Evan..." he then mumbled.

"He's unconscious, but who knows what's happening in his mind..." he wondered.

"He was at ground zero when this magic was released, after all."
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
"Well, it's understandable." Lindsay responded.

"But we'll need to know more about that book..." he mumbled.

"If only I could see it." he said.

"Get an actual LOOK at it." he went on.

"Regardless, I'll keep looking for information here." he told her.

"The monks told me of a hidden and sacred monastery with texts on matters older than... well, Vincent." he said. "There will surely be answers there." he reasoned.

"Perhaps even a way to COUNTER this."
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
"....who knows how far that will spread?" Lindsay then asked.

"I mean, the magic in that book is pretty localized stuff. It generally doesn't travel." he told her.

"However, I believe that it only robs one sense at a time in people." he continued.

"But after so long... the magic in that book must be in great concentration." he then reasoned.

"How far will it spread out?"
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
"....that narrows things down." Lindsay responded.

"There's a chance the book is the Torpens Tome." he said.

"It held secrets of sensory deprivation, among other things." he went on, before pausing.

"Oh, God... Evan... Kelly... Sammy..." he said further.

"Wait, what about yourself?" he then asked her.

"Have you felt any of these effects yet?"

"Hm." Darrel muttered.

"Maybe we can ask Vicki about it." he said.

"I mean, she can contact him no matter what, yeah?" he asked.

"Or at least, that's what Evan told me the one time." he went on.

"Said that Vicki and your Dad are always in contact with each other, no matter what. Whatever that meant."
