Jaden's face turned a little red, and he nodded.

"Yeah, sure." he said.

"Uh... what kind?" he asked.

"Like, what shirt are you specifically in the mood for?" he clarified.

"Or does it not matter?"

Jaden remained silent, while Max just sighed.

"I can understand that." he replied.

"You don't need that kind of stress in your life." he said.

"So... very well." he told her.

Jaden merely sighed quietly as he heard that.

'Thank heavens...' he thought.

Max looked at Desiree, and smiled.

"I assume you're good to go?" he asked.

She nodded in response.

"Excellent." the man replied, standing up.

"Do you want to get something to eat?" he asked her.

"Or something to drink, perhaps?"

Rene nodded.

"All right." he said.

"I've cleared you anyway, so you're free to leave." he told her.

"Talk to you later." he finished, before getting up and leaving.

"Right." Jaden said.

"Suppose we should go." he told her.

"You leaving with you Dad?" he asked her. "Odds are he'll want to at least take you out for something to eat after all this." he reasoned with a small chuckle.

Rene just smiled.

"You're a friend." he told her.

"Friends look out for each other." he said.

"Besides, I can never ignore it when something bad happens to you." he admitted. "Neither can Kalin." he said further.

"We worry about you." he said to her.

Jaden was silent, and just smiled softly, as Rene said what he did to Desiree.

Rene just shrugged.

"Right then." he said.

"Here." he told Desiree, handing her a cream.

"The danger has passed, and that will help the surface burns." he said.

"Beyond that, you're good to go." he went on.

"The fire was potent, but nothing for me." he then added proudly.

Max went silent for a moment, as he shifted his gaze towards Desiree.

Seeing her, it seemed to soothe him and calm him down, before he released his grip on Jaden, took a small step back, and cleared his throat lightly.

"Indeed." he sad.

"All... all very good points." he admitted, as Rene stepped into the room.

"Ah, seems you're having quite the get-together, Desiree." he commented, as Max shook his head some.

"I'll clear out." he said. "Give some more space." he told them.

"I'll just wait out in the hall." he finished, before stepping out of the room and closing the door.

Rene then looked at Jaden, and raised an eyebrow.

"YOU look like you're in the middle of a 'fight or flight' dilemma." he commented to the dhampir.

As she said all she did, Max's eye seemed to glow brighter and sharper, causing Jaden to visibly shrink in his seat.

"One of your fans did this to my daughter?" Max asked.

"Well... y-yeah..." Jaden responded.

"But... b-but it's not like I have any control over them." he said, before pausing suddenly and seeming to step outside the moment.

"...though the females might get obsessed with me due to the weakened pheromone-like charming aphrodisiac that vampires give off. Dhampirs do as well, but it IS weaker..." he admitted, before he felt Max's hand on his shoulder again... this time the grip noticeably tighter.

"Will this be a continued instance if she stays involved with you?" he asked darkly.

"Ah... ah..." Jaden stuttered, not sure how to respond here.

Max nodded along with what she was saying, until the end, when he perked up.

"Eh?" he asked.

"Freaky obsessed fanatic?" he asked her.

"But... seems a bit much to describe a child." he admitted.

"...wasn't a child." Jaden responded.

"Was... a fan... of... mine..." he muttered, causing Max to look at him sharply, his Eye gleaming.

Immediately, both Desiree and Jaden saw Max become awash with guilt.

"I..." he stammered.

"I... well..." he said, before hanging his head.

"....yes." he mumbled.

"I suppose so, yes." he said quietly.

"I'm just glad you're okay." he then told her.

Max listened to his daughter, and then looked at Jaden.

"That so?" he asked.

"Well... yeah..." Jaden admitted.

"Well done, my boy." Max responded, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Looks like you're just what Desiree needs in her life." he told him.

Jaden just smiled in response, but Desiree could tell there was a little unease and guilt behind it.

"............................." Jaden was dead silent after he hung up the phone.

"Ah... ah..." he stammered.

"....maybe I should have just killed her. Spared her whatever torment may come her way..." he mumbled.

-Several hours later-

Desiree was laying in bed, with Jaden sitting in the chair beside her, when the door opened, and Max stepped inside, looking immensely concerned.

"Desiree!" he exclaimed.

"Are you all right!?" he asked, making his way towards her.

Jaden found himself speechless when he felt the dark tone in his mother's voice, but managed to find his voice, clearing his throat a little and exhaling quietly.

"I removed her from Desiree's dressing room." he said.

"And dropped her off at a security guard's foot. I'm sure he's dealing with her as we speak."

Jaden just sighed when his mother asked her question.

"Well..." he muttered.

"A crazed and obsessed fan of mine seems to have attacked Desiree." he told her.

"A fire mage, no less." he continued.

"I stopped the attack, but Desiree suffered some burns, so she's being treated for them now."
