Just as she was returning, they finished with Ty, and the lot of them disappeared from where they were, appearing in the lobby area of the medical wing, where Nate was waiting for them.

"Examination room G." he told the crew, before they headed off.

"Miss Robyn." he then addressed Gem.

"Please tell me the full extent of what happened." he told her.

"What, exactly, happened?" he asked.

"....oh!" they exclaimed.

"They're new." the other told her. "Last month, actually." they said.

They then got Ty onto a stretcher.

"Are you coming with us?" they asked.

"Odds are you won't be wanting to stay HERE."

The call was answered by Nate, who happened to be at the receptionist area at the time.

"Medical wing." he said. "State your emergency." he told them.

She did, and he told her a pair of medics would be there post-haste.

And they were. They arrived within 2 minutes, and made their way over.

"Are YOU all right?" one asked her.

"Do you need any attention?"

He wasn't moving. At all. The best she felt was a twitch or two.

And she felt no pulse. Nothing at all.

It made sense, though... he was also filled with shrapnel from the glass door that had been on the machine... which was now on fire, and smoking, with pieces of itself everywhere. This had triggered the sprinkler system, which was spritzing water everywhere.

But one thing was certain.

...the man was dead. No pulse, no breathing, no heartbeat.

For now.

"Yeah, sure." he replied, catching the wallet and taking the smallest bill out of it. It was all that would be needed, anyway. He tossed her the wallet back and made his way over towards the machine.

She then sighed and her thoughts went back to alchemy. Was there any way to use it to help here?

If so, how? Was this situation solvable at all?

Was this it for the Unit? For them?

She then heard the faint whirr of the machines in the corner, meaning it had accepted the bill, followed by some beeping... and then silence... before she heard an audible crackle...

...and then what sounded like an explosion.

She barely had time to look back, when she saw the man in question be thrown back several feet, landing in a smoking heap on the floor.

He just sighed in response.

"While that's something, it's... well, it's not much, but it could be everything." he shrugged. "At least we know that perhaps we can use mana to counter it?" he suggested.

"..." he was silent, before looking around.

"Empty. Hardly surprising." he said.

"This is something that's freaking everyone out, and I wish I could say it was unwarranted." he muttered. "But this is unprecedented. And there's no telling what will happen from here." he went on, shaking his head and looking at some soda machines in the corner of the room.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"I need some caffeine. Soda." he muttered further.

"You hanging around in here for a bit?" he asked. "If so, I'll sit back down and we can talk if you like." he offered. "About... well, anything, really. Related to what's going on here or not."

As she was sitting there, someone approached and sat down across from her.

"Hey." he greeted her.

"Look like you've got a lot on your mind." he said.

"Guessing it has to do with this crap, huh?" he asked.

"Yeah, Sharp's really tearing his hair out about it, to." he said further, before pausing.

"...metaphorically speaking, that is." he added, suppressing a chuckle.

"And you know where I'LL be." Hal replied.

"Here." he said.

"Trying to find a damn solution to this." he growled.

He then sighed, and shook his head.

"Anyway, go on." he told her.

"Get to where you're needed the most."

"I understand." Hal responded.

"Do what you need to." he told her.

"You have full and complete authority to make any decision you feel is necessary to ensure the safety and survival of those in the medical wing." he said.

"Remember that." he said further.

He then sighed, and shook his head.

"We haven't been under fire THIS badly in a long time." he mumbled.

"Damn it!" Hal cursed loudly.

"If this keeps up, we really ARE through!" he exclaimed.

"At least she'll be fine." he said. "Nate knows his stuff when it comes to that." he went on.

"...how many cases now? 8?" he asked.

"9, actually." she corrected him, which caused him to look displeased.

"And how many have died?" he asked her.

"Three." she responded.

"Damn it." he cursed again.

"Have you noticed anything with the survivors?" he then asked her further.

He nodded in response.

"All right." he responded.

"Bye for now, Dr. Edwards." he said, before leaving.

And now the worst was happening, so far.

This was striking in the medical wing. So far it was just in the break room, but what next?

Their medical equipment? Was that safe?

Was it just a matter of time until it wasn't?

"The one with the fridge in it." Nate responded.

"Or... wait..." he muttered.

"They both have fridges now." he realised, one being a more recent addition.

"Break room A." he clarified.

"The one that's... always had the fridge." he said with a light chuckle.

"And all right on just needing a breather." he went on.

"Let me know if there's anything I can do to help relieve any stress."

"...I will." Nate replied.

"And she said she'll be up and about to help in a bit." he went on.

"Whenever that is." he mumbled.

"Doctor Edwards, do you want me to tell people to leave you alone?" he then asked.

"Effectively take charge until you step out of the office?"

Nate left the room, shutting the door behind him, and paused.

He then made his way to the break room and checked the outlet and the toaster oven. Once he'd done so, and saw nothing of note, he made his way to where Angela's office was, knocking on the door.

When he was beckoned to enter, he did so.

"Doctor Edwards?" he addressed her.

"We have another victim of an electrical shock." he said, before telling her it was Ebony, and then informing her of everything he knew.

"She's currently in room D." he finished.
