"....the hell?" Jake muttered.

"Sure as hell don't LOOK like her." he said.

"Or... well, you DO, kinda, but... the hell happened?" he asked.

Azazel just sighed.

"You're not going to get a useful answer." he told him.

"But trust me. The soul doesn't lie, and it IS Aedan's soul in there." he added.

"...you're taking her to the med ring, right?" Jake then asked.

"Of course." Azazel said.

"In you go." Jake replied, buzzing them in.

"I'm telling the boss-man about this, too." he added.

"......" Azazel was silent, before he suddenly grabbed Aedan by her shoulders... though she could sense no danger from him now.

"Cain! I'll be back!" he said.

Then, the two of them disappeared from where they were, appearing in the security area of the Unit.

And Jake was manning the desk.

"......eh?" he muttered.

"What's up?" he asked, before looking at Aedan.

"...and you are?"

Azazel just grabbed at his hair and looked... frustrated.

More than anything, he just looked frustrated now.

"What I want is to know what's going on!" he said.

"I... I am confused as all get-out. The way you look, the fact that you don't remember Cain... there are SO many things pointing to the conclusion that you are NOT Aedan." he told her.

He then paused, and was silent, before his arms fell to his sides.

"...but my demon senses don't lie." he mumbled.

"Your soul. It's Aedan's soul. The soul of the woman I love. That can never be faked." he went on.

"So now I have no idea what to make of this situation."

"Rice pilaf with a salad?" Ryker asked.

"...yeah. Yeah, that sounds good!" he said.

He then sighed quietly, and smiled as he saw Eke happy once more.

It was getting to be rarer and rarer, so he cherished it when it came along.

"You thinking about dessert as well?" he asked.

Azazel raised an eyebrow.

"Uh..." he mumbled.

"The... Unit?" he asked.

"Like... the branch of Special Unit 3?" he asked further.

"As... in where we work?" he asked her.

"...don't tell me you can't remember your JOB now?" he then went on.

'What in the name of all the realms is going ON here!?' he mentally exclaimed.

".................." Azazel was silent for a moment, stunned.

"Ah... I..." he stammered.

"Wait... what?" he asked.

"I... that... but... you... that's..." he stammered further.

"Aedan, you're... you're missing a very big chunk of your life." he told her.

"...wait, a sinkhole?' he then asked.

"What sinkhole?"

The next thing she knew, Azazel was standing between her and the door.

And he was slightly less menacing now.

"Let's assume you ARE Aedan." he said.

"That you somehow don't realise something's different, and don't even remember your own damn son." he went on.

"Just... let's just play that horrid twisted little emotional game." he continued.

"What is the last thing you remember?" he asked her.

"Before coming here."

Cain's life was... shattered at that point.

There was this person before him... that looked a lot like his mother... sounded a lot like his mother... but she didn't know who he was. Was this his mother? If so, why had she forgotten about him?

What was going on? If this wasn't her, where was she?

What had happened?

He then stumbled over towards a wall, and gently slid down to his ass, trying desperately to hold himself together.

"...where is Aedan?" Azazel asked her.

"And why are you trying to pass yourself off as her, without going the full nine yards?" he asked her further.

"....." Cain was silent as Aedan said what she did.

"I..." he stammered, before shaking his head.

"...Mom..." he said quietly.

"You... you don't know who I am, do you?" he asked.

"You don't recognise me, your own son, do you?" he asked further.

Azazel, meanwhile, had calmed down slightly, but was ready to attack.

For all he knew, this person was still a shifter.

Azazel just narrowed his eyes.

"You act like Aedan, you sound like her." he said.

"But you are NOT-" he started to say, before they heard Cain speak.

"What the!?" he exclaimed.

"Dad, what's going on!?" he asked Azazel.

"....Mom!?" he then exclaimed, seeing Aedan.

"Mom, what's happened? You look... really different." he commented.

Azazel dropped his phone when she said that. It crashed to the floor and almost broke.

But before Aedan could respond, Azazel's demon mana flared up, and he looked ready to kill her there and then.

"Now I KNOW you're not Aedan." he snarled.

"Not only do you not recognise yourself... how you're SUPPOSED to look... but you don't even recognise our SON!?" he exclaimed.

"Listen here, you lazy-ass shifter." he then said.

"You tell me what's happened with Aedan, and where she is, or else I will show you what Hell is like, and I will make sure you BEG for the torment to stop." he growled at her, the floor beneath him seeming like it was ready to crack and open, joining Hell and Earth.

Ryker saw what Eke had grabbed, and couldn't help but smile.

"Heh." he chuckled under his breath.

"Hmmmm." he then mumbled.

"Lemon goes with that, I believe." he told Eke.

"Also, we should have a side with it." he continued.

"Salad or fries, you think?" he asked.

"....the hell?" Azazel muttered.

"Aedan, I'm serious." he then said.

"You just... I..." he stammered, before digging into his pocket, grabbing his phone, and looking through the picture gallery. He then found a pic of Aedan and Cain, and walked over towards her.

"Look!" he said, showing her the image.

"You clearly look different than in the photo." he commented.

"Aedan, how are you...? Why are you not...?" he started to ask further, before shaking his head.

"Aedan, what happened to you?"
