"I can be up here for a limited time every 24 hours." he replied.

"How that gets spread out is... up to the mistress." he chuckled.

"You know what that means, right?" he asked, stepping out into view.

"No matter where you go, they will know." he said.

"And I will find you." he went on.

"You may as well just submit."

Sure enough, after about 3 minutes of wandering, she felt a presence.

A sickeningly familiar presence.

And he was close. VERY close.

She looked around and couldn't see right away where he was coming from, or where he was... until his position was clearly revealed by him talking to her from behind a pillar nearby.

"...one would think you'd know better." he said.

"Oh well, all the better for ME."

".....that sounds risky as all get-out." Lex muttered.

"But... I honestly can't think of any better way to test the strength of the barriers." he admitted.

"So... I..." he stammered, before sighing heavily.

"Sure." he said.

"Do it." he told her.

"We need to know for sure." he went on.

"But only if you're truly okay with doing this." he then stressed.

"......hm." Lex muttered.

"That's... hm." he repeated.

"That might be the best way to do it." he admitted.

He then crossed his arms over his chest, and pondered the idea further.

"What sort of soul would you pull up?" he asked.

"Or would it make a difference?" he asked further.

"I mean, it'd be nice to know just HOW effective this would be in driving that dark elf back." he then reasoned.

"Ah..." Lex muttered.

"I, uh..." he stammered further.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"Yeah, that's... that's the key point of it all." he told her.

He then looked around, a bit nervous that the barriers were down, before looking at the quartz again.

"Hmmmmmmmmmmm..." he murmured, looking closely at it.

Again, Lex shook his head, to bring himself back to reality.

"Ah!" he said.

"I think I know something that you could do to help us." he told her.

"We've recently upped the necromantic barrier protection on this place, and while it should be enough, there's always the chance that something can slip through the cracks." he said further.

"Would you be able to use your mana to bolster them?" he asked.

"Even if just a little bit, they'd be that much stronger and more effective at keeping out any unwanteds." he reasoned.

"......" Lex was silent for a moment.

"Ah, yes." he said.

"Yeah, I do tend to nap a lot." he admitted.

"And... ah... uh... hm." he then mumbled.

"I'm not gonna lie, I had a knee-jerk reaction to be scared and almost offended by what you just said." he told her.

"But... the more I think on it... the more I'm not sure I would be 100% opposed to that..." he then said further.

".......hm."

Lex raised an eyebrow for a moment.

".....hm." he mumbled.

He seemed to be thinking about something for a seconds, before shaking his head.

"Me?" he asked.

"Well, I'm a necromancer." he told her.

"Duh." he said.

"Was homeless with my sister as kids, until someone found us and gave us an actual life." he continued.

"....I have narcolepsy." he then added.

"..........ah..." Lex muttered.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"Own someone as a pet. I get it." he said.

"Like a slave." he continued.

"Guess Hell really IS like some places on Earth, still." he went on.

"...slaves are horrible." he then sighed.

"Just doesn't seem right."

"..........." Lex was silent as he heard that.

"I... I see." he said.

"Question." he then said.

"What is a 'pet'?" he asked.

"Like, in the sense that you're talking about." he clarified.

"What do they do, what are they required to do, or... yeah, just... what are they, exactly?"

"Ah, maybe later, but not right now." Lex muttered.

"But that is impressive." he told her.

"Hmmm." he then mumbled.

"I suppose I can ask my sis if there's anything that needs being done." he went on.

"Regardless... I'm just glad you're okay." he then said.

"I was worried about you." he admitted.

"You were really hurt..."

Lex laughed in response.

"Yeah, I can be stubborn like that." he said.

"And anything you can do? I... dunno, admittedly." he went on.

"I mean... aside from general helping, I guess?" he shrugged.

"I don't know that much about you." he then said. "I mean, I know who you are and your family's prestige, but I don't know anything about YOU." he clarified.

"What are your talents? What can you do, mana-related or no?" he asked further.

While to some, this could have been seen as invasive prying, Lex genuinely just wanted to know more about Lilim.

"Yeah, my sis is a rarity, to... understate it." Lex responded.

"Sorry about that." he apologised. "It didn't occur to Azazel that you wouldn't be able to handle her aura in such a weakened state." he explained.

"I don't blame him. He was panicking and just wanted to get you help." he continued.

"Regardless, you should be able to tolerate it now." he went on.

"And you should be safe here." he then said further.

"We've put up some strong necromantic barriers to keep out any troublesome hell denizens." he added.

She had just started to wander, when she heard something coming from the den. As she made her way closer, she realised it was... snoring. She stepped into the den, and saw Lex sprawled out on the couch... however, he suddenly stirred, and blinked his eyes open.

"Muh... huh?" he mumbled.

"Oh!" he exclaimed, getting off the couch.

"Hey." he greeted Lilim.

"How are you doing?" he asked.

"You were really in a bad state when you showed up here." he commented.
